Get to know Alicia Morgan…

Alicia Marie Morgan was born into a the musical Larsen family in the Washington DC area. Much of her childhood was spent in front of audiences big and small. The variety of opportunities she was blessed to participate in ranged from sharing the stage with Placido Domingo and being conducted by Gian Carlo Menotti at the John F. Kennedy Center, to playing a tap-dancing snoopy on a community stage. Beyond her experiences singing in styles ranging from classical to rhythm and blues and her numerous lead and supporting roles in professional and community productions, she is a featured soloist on contemporary Christian albums, has performed as a country solo artist, and has sung for television and radio. Alicia has participated in productions around the Phoenix area, including at the Hale Center Theater, and has sung with various performing groups such as the Millennial Choirs and Orchestras (with whom she has premiered two pieces as a soloist at the Mesa Arts Center), the Phoenix Bach Chorale (now the grammy award winning Phoenix Chorale), and Cinematic Pop with Rob Gardner, which included a performance on America’s Got Talent.

Alicia graduated Summa Cum Laude in vocal performance from Arizona State University after studying at both Ithaca College (music theater) and University of Maryland (vocal performance). As an award winning vocalist, she owes a debt of gratitude to inspiring teachers, among them Cate Frazier-Neely, Elizabeth Daniels, Martha Randall (U of MD), and Anne Kopta (ASU).

As a teenager, her love for songwriting and arranging blossomed when she wrote and performed a wedding song for her sister, studied composition at Interlochen, and received a scholarship for performing and recording an original work. She went on to arrange music for her and her four sisters (Voices One) to sing together and then for the church choir she conducted. In more recent years, she developed a passion for creating and arranging music to express her individual emotions and talents.

Alicia’s hope is to merge her passion for composing, arranging and recording with her desire to reach, empower, and advocate for families and individuals struggling and coping with mental illness and challenges with neurodiversity. As an ADHD mom with anxiety in the thick of supporting family members with various mental disorders, she has spent many hours in therapy sessions, researching various diagnoses and effective therapies and treatments, as well as attending webinars or researching books in order to support those around her.

Alicia resides in Gilbert, Arizona with her husband, her youngest two out of five children, and their many animals, including bunnies, chickens, a horse, a cat and a dog. She has maintained a private voice studio for over 25 years, but is now focusing more on composing, recording, and producing music. Alicia’s ideal way to unwind would be to sit on the beach or by a creek and enjoy fine chocolate while listening to a well-narrated book.
